Cycle Mechanic

Andrew started volunteering with the Ynysybwl Regeneration Partnership in March 2020, initially to assist with mentoring young adults at Pontypridd High School one morning a week in the art of cycle maintenance, something he had not done previously, but quickly realised he really enjoyed doing it.

At the end of 2020, a position funded by the Rank Foundation Organisation within the Ynysybwl Regeneration Partnership became available, which meant Andrew could work full time at the new Upcycle workshop base which provides bike servicing for local people as well as “upcycling” donated bikes back into the community, and at the same time carry on mentoring young people at Pontypridd High School as well as learning how to teach and pass on skills effectively.

Andrew is a qualified cycle mechanic, and in his spare time likes to ride some of his bikes.
