Up-Cycle

Up-Cycle

Up-Cycle is a social enterprise that was inspired by young people's passion around bikes and cycling.

About

Young people involved in Up-Cycle gained qualifications in bike maintenance and started offering community pop-up repair sessions in Ynysybwl, Glyncoch and surrounding areas.

This was a catalyst for growth and we aim to:

  • To grow the amount of people using bikes to help improve health and wellbeing.
  • To develop people's skills and improve the quality of people's lives who are experiencing social or economic disadvantage in South Wales.
  • To protect and preserve the environment by saving bikes from landfill by repair and reuse.

Our work involves time at Pontypridd High School at their bike maintenance workshop to repair bikes and upskill the young people. We work closely with RCTBC who save bikes from landfill by donating them to us. We also have a workshop on the high street in Ynysybwl and a partnership with Wastesavers where they sell our bikes in their shop.
